Abstract

1437825 Socket contact BUNKER RAMO CORP 11 Dec 1973 [15 Jan 1973] 57396/73 Heading H2E A socket contact 10 comprises a metallic body having a hole 14 for a contact pin 18 therein and a layer 22 of conductive elastomer on at least one wall of the hole. The hole may be square or circular in cross-section and may be completely lined with the elastomer leaving a gap so narrow that the conductive pin compresses the elastomer on entering. The elastomer is preferably a silicone composition that is rendered conductive by compression thereby establishing electrical contact only when the pin is in place.
