Abstract
1436191 Rotors of dynamoelectric machines ACOMEL SA 27 Sept 1973 [3 Oct 1972] 45251/73 Heading H2A A solid non-laminated conductive rotor suitable for use in a high speed asynchronous motor, or in a synchronous motor having asynchronous starting characteristics, has transverse grooves 2 formed around its periphery, the depth r of the grooves being less than the penetration depth of the induced current flowing in the material of the rotor at the fundamental frequency but being greater than the penetration depth of any harmonics thereof; the fundamental frequency component of the induced current is thereby able to flow relatively freely but the harmonic components are obstructed. The rotor may also have axial peripheral grooves and end rings (neither illustrated).
