Abstract
1433010 Burners SIEMENS AG 7 Dec 1973 [11 Dec 1972] 56970/73 Heading F4T A combustion device for liquid hydrocarbon fuel comprises a cracking device 1 for converting liquid or vapourized liquid hydrocarbon fuel into a fuel gas, a radiant plate burner 2, and a means 3 for mixing the gas generated by device 1 with a supply of air 5, and supplying the mixture to the burner 2. Device 1 may contain one or more catalytic or non-catalytic sintered perforated bricks. The fuel is supplied at 6 and is ignited by an igniter 7, a fan 9 supplying air which passes with the fuel through a distributor 8. Air 5 is drawn in through nozzles 3. In a modification, fan 9, Fig. 3, generates an air stream 52 which passes through cracking device 1, and a second air stream 51, which mixes with the gas, assisted by mixing valves 10. Recycling of at least a portion of the exhaust gases from the radiant plate burner 2 to the cracking device advantageously take place.
