Abstract
1428379 Dyeing polyester-cellulosic unions IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 July 1973 [2 Aug 1972] 36018/72 Heading D1B Unions of aromatic polyester and cellulosic textile materials are dyed in a batchwise process by immersing the union in an aqueous liquor containing an alkaline metal salt of a disperse dyestuff which contains at least one carboxylic acid, sulphamoylaryl or tautomeric keto-enol group but which is free from sulphonic acid groups, adding an acid to lower the pH of the liquor to below 7, and in an aqueous liquor containing a water-soluble reactive dyestuff for the cellulosic material and an alkali. The disperse dye may be applied before or after the reactive dye in separate dyebaths or both dyes may be applied from a single bath. When the disperse dye is applied after the reactive dye, or is fixed after the reactive dye in the single bath process, then an alkali after treatment is necessary to remove unfined dye. The disperse dye is soluble under alkaline conditions and precipitates on addition of acid; addition of an anionic or non-ionic dispersing agent before acidification maintains the disperse dye in a finely dispersed form.
