1427817 Slider for sliding clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 21 Dec 1973 [29 Dec 1972] 59509/73 Heading E2S An automatic locking slider 10 of the kind comprising a slider body, a pull tab 24 and a locking spring member 23 comprises an upper wing member 12 and a lower wing member 13 connected at one end by an integral neck portion 14 to provide a substantially Y-shaped channel therebetween, a locking spring member 23 which has an inwardly bent tongue portion 23a at one end, a locking prong 23d at the other end, and an exposed centre portion 23e, the upper wing member 11 having an aperture 22 disposed for the passage therethrough of the locking prong 23d into the Y-shaped channel and a retaining lug 18 disposed immediately above the neck portion 14, and a pull tab 24 which has a transversely extending trunnion portion 24a between the locking spring member 23 and the upper wing member 12. The trunnion portion is reduced in thickness compared with the remainder of the pull tab so that the outer surface of the pull tab 24 normally lies substantially flush with the exposed surface of the locking spring member 23, and the retaining lug 18 projects slightly above the outer surface of the pull tab and the locking spring member 23. Lifting the pull tab 24 raises the locking spring member 23 to release the connecting elements, not shown, of a sliding clasp fastener, not shown, to which the slider is fitted, the outward movement of the member 23 being limited by a stop member 26, 26a. In a generally similar arrangement, Figs. 3, 4 not shown, an inwardly bent end (23f) of the locking spring member (23) is received in a corresponding recess in the wing (12) beneath the lug (18) the aperture (22) being longitudinally elongated to extend through the rearward end of the wing (12), and the stop member (26) being disposed horizontally in the form of a gate. In a third embodiment, Figs. 5, 6 the upper wing 12 is bifurcated at its forward end to form an opening 27 which has recesses 12b. 12b on opposite sides to receive the ends of a transversely elongated end portion of the spring 23 which is retained by the lug 18.
