Abstract
1426613 Magnetic separators KRUPPKOPPERS 24 May 1973 [15 June 1972] 24999/73 Heading B2J Apparatus for separating fine magnetizable material 5 from coarser material 6 comprises a conveyor belt 1 for transporting the material whilst subjecting it to vibratory motion, and magnetic means associated with the delivery end 4 of the conveyor belt. As shown, the magnetic means includes a belt 7 having a plurality of magnets secured over its whole length, the belt extending around the reversing roller 8 for the belt 1 and around a roller 10 in the region of a delivery point defined by a funnel 11 and a scraper 12. Thus, the fine material 5 which tends to collect on the surface of the belt 1 because of the latter's vibratory motion is carried around the roller 8, by virtue of the attractive force exerted by the belt 7, for delivery into the funnel 11, whilst the coarser material 6 falls from the belt 1 as shown. The supporting rollers 2 for the top run of the belt 1 have uneven surfaces which import the necessary vibratory motion to the belt; alternatively, the supporting rollers may be eccentrically mounted and/or of different sizes, or the belt may be associated with a vibrating table. The magnets may be of the permanent or electromagnetic type. In a second embodiment, a magnetic reversing roller is provided at the delivery end of the conveyor belt 1 and a plurality of stationary magnets, located close to the inside face of the bottom run of the conveyor belt, extend from the reversing roller to a required delivery point for the fine material.
