Abstract

1426531 Moulding branched ceramic pipes ZAPADOCESKE KERAMICKE ZAVODY NARODNI PODNIK 21 Dec 1973 59473/73 Heading B5A A branched ceramic pipe is formed in a twopart mould 10, the inner bore of the pipe being defined by two tools each comprising a hollow tube 50 or 60 supporting a hollow sliding mandrel 70 or 80 closed by a closure 20 or 30 and having a sharp leading end. The mould 10 is connected by a ring 90 to an injection head 40. Sleeves 51, 61 mounted on the tools will define the inner surfaces of bell-ends moulded on the branched pipe. After the mould 10 is filled with ceramic material up to the closures 20, 30, these are removed and the mandrels 70 and 80 are forced successively into the mould with excess ceramic material passing into their bores. The branched pipe is severed from the material supply when the ring 90 has been slid away. The operation can be automated.
