Fibres 7 are deposited as sliver 8 in a trough formed by rotor surface 2 and 'by tapered pins 3 projecting from the surface and into rotor shoulder 4. Suction created by one or more vents 9 and one or more vents 10 draws in fibres which slide into the trough, unspinnable fibres and dust passing between the pins into the or each vent 9 and pipe 14.
