Abstract

1421259 Earth-boring roller cutters KENNAMETAL INC 5 Oct 1973 [17 Oct 1972] 46526/73 Heading E1F A roller cutter comprises a rotatable outer part (22) (not shown) carried by a non-rotatable inner part 24 whose ends 30, 32 extend axially beyond the outer part and have flat sides, and a saddle 26 having spaced legs 27, 29 formed with rectangular slots 34, 36 for receiving the end portions, and means for retaining them therein. Rods 28 of wear-resistant material such as tungsten carbide are received in holes in the saddle. A plurality of such cutters is distributed radially and circumferentially over a support structure (10), Fig. 1 (not shown) having a central stem (12), forming part of a raise boring head. The legs 27, 29 of the saddle may be integral with base 26 or may be individually welded to a support. Specification 1421260 is referred to.
