1419760 Controlling the relative positions of two members; window operation R W PIDDINGTON 22 Dec 1972 [23 Sept 1971] 44311/71 Headings E2A and E2M Means for controlling the relative positions of two members which move with respect to each other e.g. a window and its frame comprises an arm 5 adapted to be connected to one of the members and a rigid backing plate 6 adapted to be connected to the other member, the arm carrying a nose 15 and the backing plate a cam 10. The cam 10 is slidably mounted on a pair of projections 19, 20 and is movable between an advanced position wherein the nose 15 on the arm is engageable in a recess 14 therein and a retracted position wherein the nose passes in one direction of the recess 14 to allow the members to come together. Thus the cam-nose assembly allows a limited range of movement of the two members with respect to each other. One 20 of the projections is retractable so that the cam 10 can pivot about the other 19 to allow the nose to pass in the other direction from the recess 14 to allow unlimited movement of the members away from each other. In the construction shown the cam 10 is urged into its advanced posi- tion by a leaf spring 22 which also acts as a stop to limit pivotal movement of the cam. The nose 12 is provided with a cam surface 23 which co-operates with a surface 24 of a lug 13 of the cam 10 when moving in the one direction to move the cam into its retracted position. The projection 20 may be in the form of a plunger and be constructed and operable as described in a like arrangement in Specification 1312231.
