Abstract
1419238 Open end spinners TSENTRALNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT KHLOPCHATOBUMAZHNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI and PENZENSKY EXPERIMENTALNO KONSTRUKTROSKY INSTITUT PRYADILNYKH MASHIN 19 March 1974 12107/74 Heading DID An open end spinning machine comprises a rotary spindle 6 carrying a sleeve 5 and multivane wheel 8 on which is a fibre collecting disc 9, which disc has slots 14 extending away from a central opening 13, through which yarn is extracted, toward the periphery and projections 15 intermediate the slots to assist in retaining fibres on the disc, fibres being fed to the disc by a device including a feed channel 2 which conveys fibres by an air stream generated by rotation of the wheel 8. The projections 15 may have a variety of sections Fig. 10 (not shown) which are said to be suitable for different staple lengths. The slots 14 may or may not extend all the way to the periphery and different arrangements of them are illustrated in Figs. 7, 8 and 9 (not shown). Deposit of fibres may be assisted by setting up an electrostatic field between electrodes on the end of feed channel 2 and the disc 9, also holes may be provided in the part of the disc encircled by the projections. Foreign matter separates from the fibre and continues through the disc. A reinforced yarn may be produced by feeding a core of e.g. capron or metal thread through the apparatus.
