Abstract
1417963 Thread dispenser COBB-SLATER INSTRUMENT CO Ltd 29 Jan 1973 [30 Oct 1971] 50528/71 Heading B8M part B A dispenser comprises a housing formed from two halves 5, 6 of identical shape and size divided internally into compartments 10 for accommodating yarn, thread or the like, and includes a dispensing opening 21 through which the yarn, thread of the like may be withdrawn without opening the housing the halves 5, 6 being provided with alternately arranged complementary fastening members 16, 17 enabling them to be push-fitted together. As described the housing parts 5, 6 are moulded from transparent plastics material and have studs 16 and apertures 17 which are interengaged to hold the two parts together. Notches, or, as shown, a gap 21, are provided at the edges of the parts for the passage of thread. The compartments 10 are arranged about a central region which may also receive thread. Apertures 18 enable the dispenser to be placed on a shaft. An adapter, Fig. 6, may be placed in the central region so that a spigot 29 thereof projects from the housing and can be engaged with a complementary bore 30 of an identical adapter to form a stack of housings. A magnetic cap may be provided for the adapter to aid in withdrawing pins or needles stored therein.
