Abstract
1,162,421. Boxes. REXALL DRUG & CHEMICAL CO. 15 Aug., 1966 [17 Aug., 1965], No. 36456/66. Heading B8P. [Also in Division E2]. A container assembly comprises a receptacle 11 and a closure 12 therefore, the receptacle having a cylindrical projection 17 with an opening therethrough and the closure comprising a cylindrical side wall 26 and a closure wall 23 for the throughway, there being at least one locking ring 14 which is rotatable on the side wall, retaining means 27, 28 to prevent axial movement of the ring 14 on the side wall and interengaging locking means 30, 22 on the ring and the projection such that the ring 14 and the closure 12 are removable from the projection 17 only in a predetermined angular position of the ring relative to the projection, the side wall of the closure being provided with axially spaced slots 25 dividing the side wall into a plurality of segments 24 integrally formed with the side wall at the top of the closure, the retaining means comprising ribs 27, 28 projecting from the top and bottom of the side wall, the side wall segments being inwardly deflectable at the bottoms thereof permitting the rings to clear the bottom retaining means when loaded on to the closure, the ring or rings 14 being in contact with the closure side wall and independently rotatable relative thereto and the ring or rings 14 further abutting the retaining ribs 27, 28, thereby being restrained from axial movement along the closure side wall. As shown, the container is a lockable money box which in appearance simulates a camera and is provided with a coin-receiving slot. In use, the closure 12 is assembled by inwardly deflecting side wall segments 26 to permit assembly of the rings 14 thereon, and the rings then rotated to align indicia on the outside of the rings opposite a cut-out 30 with one of the slots 25. The closure is then slid on to the projection 17 with the cut-out aligned with detent 22 and one or both of the rings are then rotated to lock the closure on to the receptacle 11. A guide 21 is provided to indicate the position of the detent 22 when the assembly is completed.
