Abstract

1417296 Joining filament ends in drawing- false twisting processes MITSUBISHI RAYON CO LTD 7 Sept 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 42188/73 Headings DID and D1F Ends of filaments are joined when new bobbins are exchanged in drawing false twisting processes by drawing the filament ends, e.g. manually and then making the join in the drawn portion such that the formula is satisfied, where L = length (cm) of the drawn portion of the filaments after connection and 1 = drawing ratio % until necking of the drawn portion disappears. The join may be by e.g. knotting, adhesion or intertwining. Examples are given using polyethylene terephthalate and nylon 66, twisting speed, degree of twist, heater temperatures, wind ratios and draw ratios being stated.
