Abstract

1415097 Fexible pipes PNEUMATIQUES CAUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE ET PLASTIQUES KLEBER COLOMBES 26 Jan 1973 [26 Jan 1972] 4235/73 Heading F2P In order to prevent kinking when a flexible pipe 14 is bent, the pipe has independent ring segments 16 secured to the material of the pipe wall which lie substantially on at least one side of the axial plane in which the pipe is to be bent. In one embodiment, as shown, the ring segments 16 are secured on the outside wall so as to protrude from it, providing an exterior protective bearing area. Additional reinforcement is provided by layers 15 of metal cables. The ring segments are of polyolefine material, e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene, and the pipe wall may be rubber or polyethylene. In another embodiment, the ring segments (13) (Fig. 3, not shown) are embedded in the pipe lining so as to be flush with the bore. Alternatively, two series of rings may be provided, one series on each side of a plane and in staggered relation (Fig. 6, not shown).
