Abstract

1414857 Gate B H S STEPHENS 14 July 1973 33649/73 Headings E1B, E2F and E2M A gate comprises a fixed post 11, a movable post 12 and a plurality of interconnecting bars 10 in a generally vertical plane, each bar 10 being pivoted at one end to the fixed post and at the other end to the moveable post, each pivot point 9 being offset from the one below it in the direction towards the fixed post such that the moveable post may be swung from a "gate closed" position in which the bars are substantially horizontal to an "open" position above the fixed post in which the bars are substantially vertical. A socket 1 may be provided in the ground to receive the moveable post 12 and a lock may be provided to retain the post 12 in the socket. The gate is suitaby used as the extension of an existing farm gate.
