Abstract
1411460 Milking machines WESTFALIA SEPARATOR AG 31 Oct 1973 [19 Dec 1972] 50712/73 Heading AIM An apparatus for automatically removing the teat cups from the cow on cessation of milking comprises a milk flow indicator 2 having a chamber 4 with inlet and outlet tubes 5, 6 respectively. In operation milk is taken from the milk claw 1 into the chamber 4, and thence to the milk collecting tube 3, because a vacuum is applied to a pipe 11, via valve 12, which raises a diaphragm 8 away from the mouth of the pipe 5. When the mik level falls below the top of the probe 17, a device 23 is actuated and switches the valve 12 to apply atmosphere to pipe 11 thus closing the diaphragm (chamber 4 being below atmospheric pressure due to suction of pipe 3). Simultaneously vacuum is applied to pipe 13 which connects with a removal device 14, said vacuum causing rod 20 to rise and hence remove the milking equipment from the udder.
