Abstract
1408098 Polysulphide polymers THIOKOL CORP 21 May 1973 [22 May 1972] 24225/73 Heading C3R [Also in Divisions C6 and D1] A liquid polythiomercaptan polymer having recurring hydrocarbon, oxahydrocarbon or thiahydrocarbon radicals linked by -S- and/or -SS-linkages and which has had its terminal mercaptan groups blocked with an aldehyde or ketone, is cured with an ammonium compound or an amine. Leather may be impregnated with the polymer and cured in situ. In examples polysulphide polymers having terminal mercaptan groups blocked with formaldehyde, furfural, benzaldehyde and acetone, are cured by contact with ammonium stearate, ammonium chromate, ammonium carbonate, ammonium benzoate, diethylenetriamine, hexamethylenediamine, piperadine hexahydrate, a molecular sieve loaded with diethylenetriamine, and ammonium hydroxide.
