Abstract

1405842 Work guides VESTRA-UNION SA 18 Jan 1973 [21 Jan 1972 31 Jan 1972] 2609/73 Heading D1G Apparatus for sewing together articles comprises a sewing machine 10 provided with a guide 11 having a plurality of material supporting plates one of which, 11<SP>1</SP> separating two mutually adjacent material layers 16<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>1</SP>, extends to an intermediate plate 4 under which the lower layer 16<SP>1</SP> is positioned, .the plate 4 lowered and the upper layer 17<SP>1</SP> positioned thereon, a conveyor being provided to then move the positioned layers to the sewing position. As the work is sewn, moving transversely to the conveyor feed direction F air jets 12 12<SP>1</SP> assist movement of the joined materials on to a lower surface 3 and further jets 13, 13<SP>1</SP> assist the work on to a stacker 14 (not described). The plate 4 is movable vertically, as is a stop 5, by pneumatic rams (20), 22, Fig. 4 not shown). The conveyor comprises needles (6, Fig. 5 not shown) mounted on a device (6<SP>1</SP>) below the table 1 and movable upwards to engage the work against the action of pressers 8 before moving the work towards the sewing position.
