Abstract

1404734 Boride-containing hard alloy NIPPON TUNGSTEN CO Ltd 15 Jan 1974 [18 Jan 1973] 01823/74 Heading C7A and D A hard alloy consists of 50-95% by volume of a boride or borides of one or more of V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo and W and 5-50% by volume of binder material which comprises at least 50% by volume of one or more of Fe, Ni and Co and the remainder one or more of Cr, Mo and W. The alloy may be prepared by wet blending the ingredients for 100 hours in a ball mill, drying, adding 5% by volume of camphor as lubricant, pressing at 1 ton/sq. in and sintering for 1 hour at 1400‹C, or 1500‹C, in vacuum. The alloy may be used for ornamental products such as watchcases.
