Abstract
An aluminate of a heavy catalytic metal such as nickel, after reduction in hydrogen, is used as a catalyst in the hydrogenation of unsaturated organic compounds such as fatty acids and their esters. The catalyst is prepared, for example, by mixing solutions of nickel sulphate and sodium aluminate, washing the precipitated nickel aluminate, and afterwards treating the dried aluminate at a temperature of 300-400 DEG C. with a current of hydrogen. The aluminate may be precipitated on an inert carrier such as kieselguhr.ALSO:An aluminate of a heavy catalytic metal such as nickel is prepared, for example, by mixing solutions of nickel sulphate and sodium aluminate. The aluminate may be precipitated in a carrier such as kieselguhr.
