Abstract
1403362 Plant cultivation tray K F WHITTAKER 27 Dec 1972 [12 Oct 1971] 47369/71 Heading A1E [Also in Division B8] A plant cultivation package, providing for the cultivation of plants from seeds, comprises a tray 11 having a plurality of cells 13 each of which accommodates a seed (which may be a pelleted seed) and a filling of compost or other plant life-supporting material; to prevent germination of seeds while in storage, the package is vacuum wrapped with polythene or cellulose film. The cells may be formed of moulded plastics so that individual cells can be easily split off or they may be formed by a honeycomb-like insert in a tray with a waterproof lining. When required for use the wrapping is removed and the package is exposed to warmth and light and is watered. After germination and when the resulting seedlings are sufficiently advanced the plants can be removed from the cells and bedded out.
