Abstract

1403207 Hooks OVERHEAD DOOR CORP 14 Dec 1972 [16 Dec 1971] 57848/72 Heading E2A A lock structure for holding a vertically movable door of a van in a closed position, comprises a lock device having a handle 43 pivotally mountable on the door, the handle having a U-shaped end-portion, a bracket 63 for securing to the door and a padlock device comprising a body 86 movably mounted on rods 83, 84 fixed to the bracket into and out of locking position wherein it is at least partially disposed within the legs of the U- shaped end-portion when the handle is in locked position. A hook bolt 47 is engageable by gravity with a striker pin 29 on the vehicle platform 14 by turning the handle 43 slightly in releasing direction, the handle and bolt pivoting on an axle 30 projecting from a mounting plate 31. The handle is then turned in the locking direction and is locked by moving the body 86 along the rods 83, 84 to secure the U-shaped end portion of the handle. The body 86 has key actuated means engaging in recesses 88, 89 in the rods. The handle and the bolt are held in disengaging position by a hook 56 which pivotally engages a flange on a portion 34 of the handle.
