Abstract

1403145 Packages DAI NIPPON PRINTING CO Ltd 28 Sept 1973 [29 Sept 1972 7 Aug 1973] 45547/73 Heading B8C [Also in Division B5] A moisture proof container having two or more recesses is formed from a laminate A comprising a resin layer 1, hot melt adhesive layer 2, and a metal layer 3, by forming between a punch and die, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), and the metal layer 3 of the laminate blank is cut along lines B so that during forming, when the adhesive and the resin have softened, the layer is permitted slide with respect to the resin layer and tearing and wrinkling of the metal is avoided. In Fig. 7 (not shown), the laminate blank is formed by a metal layer 3 which has a resin layer 1 secured on one side by a hot melt 2, and a resin layer (1<SP>1</SP>) secured on the other side by a conventional layer adhesive 13. The metal and resin layer (1<SP>1</SP>) are cut out (B). In the blank of Fig. 9 (not shown), a laminate similar to that in Fig. 7 has only the metal layer cut. The laminate of Fig. 12 (not shown), has two resin layers on one side of the metal layer, and one resin layer on the other side. The resin layers can be P.V.C., polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, or polycarbonate. The metal layers can be of aluminium, tin, copper, or iron. The hot melt adhesive can be ethylenevinylacetate copolymer, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl butyral, polyethylene, or polyamide as a main component with resin, ester gum or paraffin as an additive. The "conventional adhesive" can be, e.g. a saturated polyesterisocyanate.
