Abstract

1399094 Making containers; seaming MONO CONTAINERS Ltd 8 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 28749/71 Headings B5D and B5K [Also in Division B8] A seamless frusto-conical container body, which is formed by deep-drawing a polystyrene sheet in a mould 12 and severing the smaller closed end therefrom to form an open-end tube, is closed at the larger end by pressing a metal foil sheet 16 into that end with a heated tool 19 to heat-activate an adhesive layer 18 on the foil and cause a skirt portion 17 to adhere to the body. The container is then filled and the smaller end capped. Alternatively, the smaller end may be capped first, the container filled through the larger end, and the metal foil sheet 16 finally applied.
