Abstract

1401252 Filter press cloths FILTROXWERK AG 3 Oct 1972 [21 Dec 1971] 45527/ 72 Heading BID A filter sheet assembly for a filter press comprises two filter sheets 1 of equal area joined by a separate connecting member 4 in such a way that the sheets may be hung one on each side of a filter press plate. Each filter sheet is divided into a filtration portion and a portion defining an attachment face to which the connecting member 4 is joined by adhesive, stitching, rivets or staples and the part 8 of the connecting member 4 which is spaced from the attachment faces interconnects only the boundary line between the attachment face and filtering portion of one sheet with the equivalent boundary line on the other sheet. The result of this is that the sheets can only be lowered into the filter press to the level of connecting portion 8 and thus, all of the connecting member is outside the press. The sheets I are suitably square or rectangular and the connecting member is suitably in the form of one or more strips of folded flexible material, e.g. plastics or woven fabric impregnated with rubber or plastics, applied only one edge of each sheet. Backing strips 11 may be provided at the attachment face. Alternatively, the connecting member may itself be foldd over the ends of the filter sheets to provide a backing or no backing may be used. Portion 8 of the connecting member may or may not have a central fold.
