Abstract

1399032 Two-for-one twister HAMEL GmbH ZWIRNMASCHINEN 22 March 1973 [11 April 1972] 13753/73 Heading D1D In a two-for-one twister a twisted yarn runs in channels between the walls of a doublewalled shell mounted on a horizontal packagecarrying spindle and rotating about the package. As shown, Fig. 1, yarn runs from package 26 through tube 60, yarn brake 62, hollow spindle 14, channels 50, 52 in rotating shell 32, and shell eyelet 56. Shell 32, comprising walls 34, 36, is mounted on resilient layer 30 on disc 28 rotating with spindle 14. The shell walls are separated on corrugated cylinder 42 whose peaks are secured to the walls by, for example, an adhesive or by welding. The corrugations may run axially of the shell. The walls are also separated by disc 48 containing channel 50. Bobbin carrier 22 is held stationary by flange 66, and supports shield 68. Stationary housing 72 surrounds the shell. Alternatively, Fig. 4, a removable cover 274 rotates with shell 232 in bearing 286 mounted on pivotable arm 284. Spindle bearings 212 are mounted in a rubber ring. The spindle is braked, Fig. 5, by pads 292 applied by pedal 304 via cable 300 and brake levers 290 which carry belt lifting rollers or cams. The brake levers may be operated magnetically. Tube 60 may telescope against spring bias with increasing yarn tension.
