139,857. Cobbin, L. S. Feb. 4, 1919. Hoods.-Relates to vehicle hoods of the kind comprising rear and middle pillars a, c hinged to the body as at a<2>, c<2>, a rear cant-rail d hinged to both pillars, and a forward cant-rail hinged to a rigid metal strap extension e<2> of the rear cant-rail and abutting, at its rear end, against the front face of the middle pillar c in the unfolded position, and consists in providing a hoop-stick j<2> hinged to the extension e<2> as at j<3> and supported by a link l connected to the forward cant-rail as at l<3>. The rear cant-rail d is secured to a metal strap e by which it is hinged at d<2>, d<3> to the pillars a, c, and the part e' is an extension of this strip e. The forward cant-rail also carries a metal fitting h by which it is hinged at f to the extension e<2>. In the folded position, the cant-rail g lies over the cantrail d, and the members j, l lie between them.
