Abstract
1398317 Connection plugs for current supply rails OY NOKIA AB 4 Sept 1972 [6 Sept 1971] 40938/72 Heading H2E A plug comprises a casing 1 with contact fingers 4, 5 each comprising an arm supported at one end in the casing and carrying a contact at the other end adapted for engagement with conductors 9, 10 in a support rail, each contact finger being movable between a projected position in which it connects a conductor and a withdrawn position in which it is within the casing by means of displacing a plate-like slide 2 which moves over the arms with a camming effect. The track comprises an insulating strip 16 carrying the conductors 9, 10 and mounted in an aluminium support rail 11 fitted with an earth conductor 12. As well as the contact fingers 4, 5, the plug carries gripping fingers 3, (3<SP>1</SP>), 6, (6<SP>1</SP>) each comprising an arm 24, 25 for gripping edges of the rail to hold the plug therein. The fingers 4, 5, 3, (3<SP>1</SP>), 6, (6<SP>1</SP>) pass through a respective slot 22, (23), 19. (20), 18, (21) in the plate 2 and the arms are shaped such that as the plate 2 is moved from the full line position to the broken line position of Fig. 6, the slots bear against the arms to project the fingers for engagement with the track, the arms being resilient and unstressed in the withdrawn position. The contact and gripping fingers and earthing fingers 13, (13<SP>1</SP>) are all screw mounted to an insulating bar 17. Polarization is achieved by provision of assymetric projections (14, 15) on the plug. On inserting the plug into the track the earthing fingers make connection initially due to their own resilience, but this connection is enhanced by the gripping fingers which press against the earthing contacts as well as gripping the track.
