Abstract

1397467 Light guides SIEMENS AG 14 July 1972 [21 Sept 1971] 32977/72 Heading G2J An optical waveguide 2 is supported e.g. by adhesive 3 on a carrier member 1, adjacent a platelike optical waveguide 4 carrying a coupling element 5 which is a Kino-form having a surface relief structure of saw-tooth shape effective to concentrate light into waveguide 1. The coupling film preferably behaves as a diffraction grating, and may be produced photographically, so as to be mode-selective. The Kino-form may also have varying refractive index.
