Abstract

1396320 Heavy duty hinges G & S ALLGOOD LTD 18 Oct 1972 [5 Nov 1971] 51471/ 71 Heading E2F A heavy duty hinge comprises two parts 10, 11, a pivot pin 14 mounted in bores in tubular portions 12, 13 of the parts, a thrust bearing 24 acting between a step 23 on the pin and a further step 21 on the bore, and a number of needle roller journal bearings 20 which accept no axial thrust. A grub screw 17 acting on the pin is adjusted to maintain a small spacing 27 between the portions 12, 13, and the needle roller bearings 20 and held in position above the thrust bearing by a spring clip 25. Resilient removable end caps 18 and 26 close the bores. Preferably the portions 12, 13 are formed of a relatively soft material such as aluminium and the pin 14 and grub screw 17 of a harder material such as steel.
