Abstract

139,625. Lamb, H. M. March 17, 1919. Coupling.-A connecting-socket for wire cables, ropes, &c., comprises a conical casing 5 provided with a bail 6 at its wider end, a conical sleeve 7, and a conical core 8 of soft metal formed with a central passage 9 for the cable 10. The strands near the end of the cable are separated and arranged around the bottom and over the sides of the core, and also over the sides of the sleeve as shown. By an outward pull on the cable, the separated strands 11 are forced into contacting engagement with the inner surface of the casing 5.
