Abstract

1395988 Coating apparatus ARMOURMOORE MARINE SERVICES LTD 22 Oct 1973 [26 Oct 1972] 49444/72 Heading B2L An underwater paint applicator comprises an open sided chamber surrounded by a leading margin 45 side margins 44, 43 and a trailing margin 49 magnetic means for urging the applicator against the surface to be coated a paint inlet connection 46A to the chamber and an attachment point 51 by which the applicator can be drawn along the surface. Additional magnetic attachment means 50 may be provided on a trailing flap 47 to help spread the paint. A block 53 may also be provided to ensure the tractive force is along the surface to be coated. In Fig 7 outrigger magnetic blocks 66 act through bars 67 on resilient blocks 70 to urge the applicator down. A space 71 is provided in which low or high pressure can exist to prevent escape of or remove excess paint reaching near the edge of the applicator.
