Abstract

1395881 Transfer printing PRECISION PROCESSES (TEXTILES) Ltd 31 July 1972 [24 June 1971] 29759/71 Heading D1B Fabrics are printed by a dry transfer process which comprises:-a) providing a fabric containing keratinous fibres and causing a compound of a polyvalent metal to become associated with the fibres, b) providing a support having printed thereon a dyestuff which sublimes at a temperature of not more than 220‹C and is capable of forming a complex with the said polyvalent metal, and c) effecting contact between the fabric and the printed support and heating the support so as to transfer the dyestuff to the fabric, whereby complex formation between the polyvalent metal and dyestuff is effected preferably the fabric is then treated with water or steam to effect complex formation. The metal is preferably aluminium, cobalt, copper, manganese nickel or zinc. The fabric may be wholly wool or wool blended with other fibres.
