Abstract
1395850 Measuring displacements SIEMENS AG 30 July 1973 [4 Aug 1972] 36125/73 Heading GIN The displacement or velocity of a toothed soft iron element (6) Fig. 1 is determined by a fixed transducer comprising a permanent magnet 1 with two pole-shoes 3,3' on one side, each carrying a magneto-resistive unit 4,4'. As the element 6 moves in the direction of the arrow, the magnetic flux is transferred from pole-shoe 3 to pole-shoe 3', producing a corresponding change in the resistance of units 4,4 which is sensed in a bridge circuit. The apparatus may be duplicated on the other pole of the permanent magnet for a further element 6.
