1395268 Projectiles DIEHL 7 Nov 1973 [13 Dec 1972] 51582/73 Heading F3A An explosive projectile in which propellant gas is prevented from permeating through the base of the projectile thereby causing a barrel burst upon reaching the explosive, comprises: a conical cup-shaped body 22 retained in a correspondingly shaped recess 18 in the base of the projectile by either a flanged-over edge 23 or by abutment of the rim of the cup against a shoulder (14), Fig. 4 not shown, in the recess.
