Abstract
1352927 Warheads D A SILVIA 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970] 21487/71 Heading F3A A warhead whose burst is concentrated within an angle subtended by the target comprises a cylindrical charge divided into segments 180, the segments being so connected that an explosion initiated therein will travel therearound with induced delay to produce lateral bursting in the direction of the target. The delay is induced by U-shaped lengths of fuse-cord 186 or explosive diodes (192), Fig. 6 (not shown), which provide communication across partitions 184. The segments surround a core 182 which is evacuated or is filled with fragments for projection towards the target. In another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) the segmented charge is divided into three concentric sub-rings.
