Abstract
1395205 Fast-setting phosphate bonded concrete REPUBLIC STEEL CORP 17 Nov 1972 [1 Dec 1971] 53252/72 Heading C1H A fast-setting concrete structure is produced by (a) mixing aggregate containing at least 1 wt. per cent of magnesia capable of reacting with ammonium phosphates and ammonium phosphates in an aqueous solution, 3-10 parts by wt. P 2 O 5 per 100 parts by wt. aggregate, the phosphates comprising not more than 40% orthophosphate, and at least 60% selected from pyrophosphates and higher polyphosphates, in which 2% of the non-orthophosphates are the higher polyphosphates, (b) applying the resultant mixture into a form defining a shaped open space and (c) allowing this mixture to set at ambient temperature. The aggregate may be crushed brick, raw dolomite, limestone, gravel, crushed rock, and gannister. Calcined dolomite or crushed brick may wholly or partially be used for the magnesia.
