1394777 Knitting-machines ELITEXZAVODY TEXTILNIHO STROJIRENSTVI GENERALNI REDITELSTVI 17 May 1973 [8 June 1972] 23645/73 Heading D1C In a circular machine having a selector 20 associated with each needle and/or jack, the cam along which the end of the selector is guided is interrupted at each selection point where a spring urges certain selectors through the interruption unless an electromagnet maintains the selector position. In the embodiment shown the selectors are urged against the upper face 41 of a cam 31 by a spring 27. If at the interruptions, the electromagnet is unenergised a selector drops into the gap and is urged forward by face 42, towards jack 3. Selectors are restored to the original postion by cams 32, 43. If the electromagnet 39 is energised its force is greater than that of the spring and enables the selector to pass over the interruption. In an alternative embodiment (Figs 6, 7, not shown) the cam face (46) is radially inwards of depending butts (45) at the end of the selectors. Selectors urged downwards by a spring (27) at the interruption are maintained in a withdrawn, inoperative, postion by cam face 49. Energisation of the electromagnet keeps the selector ends on face (46) so that the butts (45) are urged to follow cam face (47) by the spring.
