1390760 Door locking arrangements in public buildings R K H TERRY 3 Jan 1973 [8 Oct 1971] 46898/71 Heading E2A A door-locking and releasing system in a public building is such that a component which holds a door locked is detachable from the door and is usable to operate an electric circuit within the building. As described a door lock is of the semi-bolt type, opposed bolts 3, 4 thereof being actuated by a push rod working on a disc 12. The actuating mechanism is housed in a casing 6 with the panel rod projecting therefrom and the component is in the form of a plate 19 which is coupled to the forward face of the casing 6 by slides 25 and a lock 26 on the plate 19 and keyhole slots 24 and an aperture 27 in the casing respectively. A bar 30 on the inside of the forward wall of the casing engages the bolt 29 of the lock to prevent transverse movement between the casing 6 and plate 19. A slot 23 in the plate 19 co-operates with a groove provided in the push rod when the push-rod is in its extended bolt fastening condition. When detached from the casing 6 the plate is locked to a fitting adjacent the door (Fig. 1, not shown) to activate the lighting circuit of the building. Should there be a series of doors and fittings, the circuits of the fittings are connected in series.
