1390247 Cyanine dyes ILFORD Ltd 8 May 1973 [26 May 1972] 24943/72 Heading C4P Trimethine dyes for optically sensitizing photographic materials are of formula (in which one of R 1 and R 2 is CF 3 and the other is H, halogen, CH 3 or CN; R 3 and R 4 are each 1-4 C alkyl; Z is a straight or branched alkylene chain; and Ph is phenyl). The dyes are prepared by conventional condensation reaction.
