Abstract

1389679 Control lever assembly FICHTEL & SACHS AG 15 Dec 1972 [16 Dec 1971] 58142/72 Heading B7E A tubular casing for a control lever assembly to be fixed on a tubular part 3 of bicycle handle bars (the assembly including a lever 4 mounted in a housing 1 which is attachable to the tubular part 3 by a connecting device 2; and a force transmission device, e.g. Bowden cable 5, extending from the lever 4 to gear change devices or brakes for example) is made of deformable material which consists of a sheath 6 at least partially enclosing the housing 1, a gripper ring 7 intended to tightly surround the tubular part 3 and a connecting tube 8 interconnecting the sheath 6 and ring 7. The casing may be made of an elastic material such as natural or synthetic rubber, and the cable 5 extends therethrough via an aperture formed in the ring 7 parallel to its aperture for the tubular part 3. The tube 8 may be a bellows structure, as shown, of rectangular cross-section tapering towards the ring 7. The sheath 6 has an aperture 9 through which the lever 4 passes and gear change markings 10 on the housing 1 may be seen.
