Abstract

138,761. Smith, E. W. April 8, 1919. Feeding webs. - In an hydraulic brake for the feedreel of a printing or other machine, the brake blocks are operated by the expansion of a flexible bag which is mounted in one of the brake-block carrying members and is connected to a pressure-regulating device, preferably a screwoperated diaphragm. As shown, the members carrying the brake blocks B, J are carried by levers F, E connected by an adjusting-screw G, and the member A is provided with a recess containing a flexible bag C and closed by a movable cover D connected to the lever E. The bag C is con. nected by a pipe s to a supply tank P and to a pressure-applying device comprising a receptacle L closed by a diaphragm M operable by a screw N. Valves T, U are provided for the escape of air when filling the system with liquid, and a valve R is provided in the tank P. In a moditication, the tank P and receptacle L are omitted, the pipe S being connected through a controlling- valve to a pressure main.
