Molten metals, removing occluded gas and other impurities from by exhaustion.-In refining iron by melting under a high degree of vacuum in a gas-tight electric furnace, as described in the parent Specification, oxidizing and reducing agents such as iron oxide, carbon dioxide, steam, oxygen and hydrogen, and metals such as sodium and zinc, are added to the charge.
