Abstract

1385298 Selective printing HONEYWELL INFORMATION SYSTEMS ITALIA SpA 15 June 1973 [15 June 1972] 28633/73 Heading B6F A print head for a mosaic printer includes a plurality of needles 7 each driven into contact with a platen (not shown) by energizing an electromagnet, having a coil 17 around core 16, so that armature 14 moves the needle 7 (leftwards as viewed) against the action of spring 15. A bolt 37 engages a threaded aperture in the core 16 to provide adjustment of the stroke of the needle 7. Adjustment of the start and finish positions of the needle is by bolt 21 which moves the core 16 axially. A clamping bolt 26 is provided. The armature 14 is urged upwards by spring 31 and its freedom of movement facilitated by U-shaped member 28. The needle 7 passes along tube 9 which is lubricated by a porous sleeve 11 containing lubricant supplied to the needle 7 via apertures 10. Such needles 7 may be arranged in a 7 x 5 array or a single row of seven needles.
