Abstract

1384747 Cosmetic stick applicator J W BRYAN 23 Aug 1972 [12 Jan 1972] 39340/72 Heading B8P A lipstick applicator comprises a casing of modified cylindrical shape as shown in plan in Fig. 2 and formed of non-identical halves 22, 24, and a flexible actuator strap 38 disposed in a guide groove 32, (34, Fig. 8) and integral with a lipstick carrier cup 36 which has ribs (40, 48, Fig. 17) engaged in a portion 32c (34c, Fig. 8) of the guide groove 32, (34). The casing half 22 includes a U-shaped projecting wall 58 which defines in part a direction reversing guide portion 32a (34a, Fig. 8) for the strap 38 and which fits into a corresponding recess (60, Fig. 8) in the other casing half 24. The guide groove includes portions 32d, 32f, 32e, (34d, 34f, 34e) which have different widths as shown in Fig. 4. A top opening 54 of the casing is closable by the free end 38a of the strap. Co-operable nibs 48, 50 on the strap 38 and the casing prevent inadvertent projection of the lipstick. The cup 36 and the strap are moulded of plastics having a mould release material in its composition.
