Abstract

1383917 Stackable and nestable trays GPG HOLDINGS Ltd 21 Nov 1972 [13 Oct 1971] 47644/71 Heading B8P A stackable and nestable tray having an open top and an open front includes a pair of opposite side walls 3, 4 which include at their front ends mutually converging upper portions 8, 9 and on their outer sides below the upper portions 8, 9, outwardly opening rebated portions 16, 17, 18. The tray is nestable with a similar tray by inserting the upper tray through the open front of the lower tray so that the upper portions 8a, 9a of the lower tray are accommodated in the rebates 16 of the upper tray. The tray is moulded from plastics material and the inner sides of the side walls are shaped completmentary to the rebated portions 16-18. These complementary shapes are accommodated in the rebates 17, 18, of an upper nested tray. The rebated portions 16-18 are of sawtooth section. When the trays are nested the bases are held in parallel spaced relationship by ribs 24 and studs 23 which project downwardly from the rear rim parts 14, 15 of the side walls and the upper portions 8, 9 respectively, engaging the side wall rear rim parts 14, 15 and in recesses or apertures 26 in the rims 10, 11 of the upper portions 8, 9, respectively, of a lower tray. The rims of the side walls include guiding grooves 10<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP> and/or guiding ribs 14<SP>1</SP>, 15<SP>1</SP>. When the trays are stacked, keys (21, Fig. 2) associated with the bottoms of the rebated portions 16-18, engage in the recesses 26 and the rear of the tray base is supported on the rear rim of a rear wall 5 or on a pivotal bar 12.
