Abstract
1382926 Differential gear FIAT SpA 16 April 1973 [15 May 1972] 18273/73 Heading F2D A motor-vehicle differential gear is positively locked by a clutch ring 14 having three external lugs 16, 16a, engaging axial slots 16<SP>1</SP> in the rotating differential housing 7, and movable axially against spring bias, by a compressed air operated piston 32 and shift fork 28, to engage teeth 15 in the ring 14 with teeth 13 on a bevel side wheel 11. One 16a, Fig. 6, of the ring lugs has tangential spring-loaded plungers 19, engaging the sides of the complementary housing slot 16<SP>1</SP> to retain the clutch ring 14 in its axial positions.
