Abstract
138,227. Electric Construction Co., and Stirrup, P. J. April 11, 1919. Brush-holders.-In brushholders of the type in which the brush A is pressed forward by a spring e' contained within an adjustable part E, the carrier C is formed with a recess f<1> having a surface f<2> inclined to the part E and containing a ball, roller, or wedge to act as a wedge between the carrier and the part E. The ball f is pressed forward preferably by a spring f<3> and prevents the part E from moving away from the commutator, while allowing it to be moved towards the commutator.. The ball f may be pressed out of engagement with the part E by means of a lever G the end of which projects into the recess. The spring e<1> presses on the brush A, which slides in the carrier B, through a part e which slides in the guide E. The brush A may be removed by withdrawing the guide E. Where the brush-holder is placed beneath the commutator, the spring f<3> may be dispensed with.
