Abstract

1380852 Multiple glazing assemblies SAINTGOBAIN INDUSTRIES 1 March 1973 [2 March 1972] 10021/73 Heading C1M A device for making multiple glazing assemblies includes conveyer rollers G, G 1 , G 2 for transporting the sheets in face-to-face relationship while separated by a removable spacing member past a nozzle 8 arranged to inject thermoplastic material upwardly into the space between the sheets adjacent the periphery thereof, a heating device 9 for heating the sheets prior to the injection of material, and an isolable support 10 arranged to support the injected material between the sheets while the material solidifies. The heating device preferably comprises a copper or brass plate heated by an electric resistance heater. The plate may be perforated by a suction duct for extracting smoke and vapours released by the molten material. Alternatively a similar orifice may be provided in the support member. The isolable support may be covered with a layer which does not adhere to the material, for example a silicone resin or polytetrafluoroethylene layer. Alternatively means 22, 23 may be provided for interposing a protective band (e.g. of aluminium) between the support member and injected material, the band adhering to the material. The device is provided with means for rotating the sheets within their planes about a corner thereof.
